I was born and raised in southern Minnesota. From the very beginning, I was fortunate to have parents that exposed me to nature and took me traveling frequently. When I was only 7 years old, we embarked on a month-long 6,000-mile road trip across the grandeur of the western United States. The things I saw there inspired me for the rest of my life. As I grew older, I never stopped traveling.
When I was 19, I began taking a heavy interest in photography. I wanted to capture all the wonders I had seen in my travels, and share them with the world. I started out with my mom's 35mm point-and-shoot, learning the basics of composition and lighting, and gradually broadened my knowledge and skill, sometimes succeeding, sometimes not, but always learning.
Today, I'm 36 and still grinning. I shoot many different types of photography, but my passions lie in landscape, wildlife and nature photography. I spend several months every year traveling and adding to my ever-growing photography portfolio. Combining a profession with traveling and wilderness is like a dream to me.
In the summertime I reside in the beautiful city of Minneapolis, and in the wintertime you'll catch me on St. Croix in the US Virgin Islands. And, at all points in between, I'll be there with my camera and tripod.
