Photographer Profile: Laurence Kruger
I was born in Seattle, Washington but now live in West Virginia. I was interested in photography as a teenager and got my semi-professional start while working at a major Army headquarters in Germany in the early Seventies. I spoke German and everyone knew I had a good camera (a Canon A-1 that I still own today), so I was the one they sent out to photograph the damage caused by training exercises. Over time I became the unofficial photographer for the Headquarters, covering everything from military weddings to the General’s dinners with local politicians.
After the Army I got my degree in business and went into the computer field where I continued my photographic work whenever possible. Over the years I was lucky enough to travel extensively and live places as diverse as Alaska, Texas, and of course Germany where I spent a total of 17 years.
I’m now able to do what I like best and work full time as a landscape and nature photographer. I love being out in the mountains and forests trying to capture a special image that will makes a lasting impression on people. I now use a Canon EOS 5D with a Digital Rebel XTi as a back up. Adobe Lightroom and CS3 handle the organization and cleanup.
