After spending much of his childhood on the islands of Guam and St. Thomas, where snorkeling among the coral reefs was a favorite family activity, Matt Hagadorn later turned his love for the natural world into a passion for nature photography. Now married and living with his wife Emily in New Jersey, he has focused his photographic talents on capturing artistic images of wild birds in their natural environment.
Matt is fortunate to have travelled much of North America—from the southern-most tip of Texas to the sub-arctic tundra of Churchill—to photograph his subjects. When not traveling, he concentrates on the local species in and around his home state.
Respected for his knowledge and experience in digital imaging, Matt has been a regular columnist for Nature Photographers Online Magazine since 2001, where he also moderates the Digital Imaging discussion forum. In March 2003, Nature Photographers sponsored the first digital imaging seminar taught by Matt, with more seminars soon to follow.
