Tom Smit (1961) lives in the Netherlands, in the city of Hengelo (near the German border). Tom has been interested in photography since he was 10. From that age he starts photographing mostly nature pictures. First the more common pictures and later starting with macrophotography. During his study (technical chemistry) he did not spent much time photographing, but afterwards he starts again. Since the year 2000 he has started making photographs digitally and that grows. He sold his old stuff after two years and bought some new digital equipment.
Most of his pictures are related to nature in al kind of forms (mostly animals). He likes to make the little things big (macrophotography and starting micro photography).
Tom is not a professional photographer (yet), so most of the money he earns with his pictures is spent on new equipment.
