Lighthouses

Keywords: Portland, Headlight, ocean, waves

This photo was taken at on the beach of Portland Headlight, not far from Portland, Maine. While looking for a unique angle of the popular photo spot, I found myself drawn to the water. The tide was coming in, causing it to crash against the cliffs. In order to both keep the well known building next to the lighthouse out of the picture, and also to focus on the behavior of the water, I chose to frame this shot vertically. This photo is more about the action displayed by the ocean than its location. It was exciting capturing nature at its peak. Thanks to the use of a polarizing lens, I was able get the right amount of contrast in the photo and had no need to adjust or crop anything.
