autumn steps

Funny the shots that get taken when you're looking for something else. On this day, we went in search of Step Falls in Newry, Maine. Instead of reaching our intended destination, we happened upon a section of stream filled with tiny waterfalls. Combined with newly changing autumn color leaves, it made quite a beautiful scene. After taking this photograph, I realized much later that I preferred the image as a vertical. So this photo is essentially cropped in half. Other than that, the bottom half was darkened to get rid of glare and balance the tone from the woods above, as well as to enhance the reflection of the leaf colors in the water.
