The beautiful Miramar Beach is located about 3kms from downtown Panaji, Goa, India. It lies adjoining the estuary of the river Mandovi as it opens into the Arabian sea. It was originally known as the Gasper Dias Beach. From the beach across the river is an excellent view of Fort Aguada. In the distance, one can see the spearhead of the cape of Dona Paula. Coconut trees silhoutted against a subtle cloud cover, with sunrays seeping through and creating a beautiful display of color.

Despite the obvious beauty of the scene, I couldn't find a good subject matter for my composition. The cape provided a good reference point, but was too far away to make any meaningful contribution. In the end, I decided to silhoutte the coconut trees against the beach and the sky. This brought together the three prime elements of Goan landscape in a single frame: sandy beaches, beautiful sunsets, and coconut trees.
