Land Mammals

Lioness and her cubs go out hunting in late afternoon in the Serengeti National Park. We followed this lioness for a few days while she tried to stalk some zebras that have been grazing nearby, only to have her hunt spoiled by her cubs, which gave away their nearby presence and spoiled the element of "surprise", specially because she was hunting by herself. The grass was not tall to use as a cover and at times she tried to use a ditch at the side of the road, only to see her cubs decide to play in the dusty part of the road and spoil the hunt once again.
It was a few days later when we found this family in the region of N dutu, which is densely covered with trees and bushes. This time they had a fresh zebra kill under an acacia tree. We figure that the lioness decided to use the bushes and trees as a cover for her hunts since her cubs were not yet experienced enough.
