Teasel

Although the teasel is not common in Scotland, this one was growing in south Perthshire, near Errol. Teasel heads were formerly used to tease,i.e. raise a nap on fabrics like woolens. They are now occasionally grown in gardens, as their seeds draw birds, such as the goldfinch.
