Cumulonimbus storm clouds often peak up to 40,000 feet into the atmosphere. Above this brewing late summer storm, ice clouds that were drifting above refracted light of the sun-side of the clouds to produce one of the coolest "sundog" phenomenons I have ever seen, even in previous pictures. This image is a large composite of three adjacent stitched exposures. The sky above was somewhat dark grey, and that was dodged & darkened... all was contrasted a bit, but no real saturation thereafter. Big Spring, Texas, 2007
