War and Peace Shield

The asymmetry of the image is disturbing. It suggests the dissonant relationship that we have with nature. Here, the image of an old mine, in Lynn Lake Manitoba, has been manipulated to suggest a war shield surrounded by red doves. The dissonance reflects our own attitudes toward nature. On one hand, we hate how mining pollutes our land. On the other hand, our way of life is dependent upon the minerals we gain through mining.
