Patagonian Drama

This is an image of the iconic "horns" of the "Torres del Paine" national park in the Patagonia, Chile. We spent 9 days around, more waiting for those special moments than anything else, and happily we could witness a couple of sunrises and sunsets that blew our senses. The main problem: the wind. Winds of 80-90 km/h are common everyday, and when having long expositions due to the low levels of light even the most sturdy tripod is not enough. We were blessed with a twisted bush that gave some shelter, and an umbrella laterally placed did the rest. From the point of view of composition, it was great the fact that the two rainbows get out from the two islands in the foreground, and the fact that the islands themselves are in the shade. This gave depth to the composition. The combination of complementary colours (blue and reddish) gave more dynamism to the image, and the atmospherical conditions a very moody mountain scene.
