Rattlesnake Master

The Rattlesnake master is a succulent plant of the Eastern and Midwest Tall Grass Prairie Ecosystem. This specimine was found in south-central Illinois, outside of Salem Illinois. A tincture of this plant was once used medicinally. Its use gave rise to the idea of selling "snake oil". In reality, the snake oil sold was actually a traditional remedy from this plant. The image shows the variety on an anatomical theme within a botanical family (carrots), and it shows the adaptation for prairie life.
