The pondering marmot....
Well, this is one of the few good shots I had at Rainier before I had to end my trip due to a twisted ankle. I was really amazed at how close this guy let me get. He ultimately let me get within three feet. I have some closer, but really liked how he let me get a glimse of his world through his eyes, in a sense. I shot it with my 5D, 17-40 @ 40mm, 1/500, f4, 200iso. Thanks for looking.

Engaging shot. I like how the marmot is set apart from the background and gazes into the foggy forest.

Great one! The fog really makes him pop off the background and adds great depth to the shot. I can't believe that was 40mm, you were really close!

Wow, they're usually so shy! And yes, this is quite expressive, it tells me that, most of the time, you need a good fur coat to live up there in the cold & damp....

Nice one Jeremy !! This one probably has been given snacks by someone so he's not as shy as others ? 3 days and counting... my knee is better so I'm going

Jeremy, this is really nice. I love the light and fog you have in this. Sorry your trip was cut short. I was hoping to see you up there. The weekend light was nothing like this, instead it was clear and bright leaving only a couple of hours at each end of the day for good shooting.

Sorry about the ankle Jeremy. I dont know what it is, but I started having ankle problems too, after over 40 miles of hiking and also stomping down from the Pinnacle Glacier/Peak.
I saw plenty of these guys around the park. Being as Naive as I am, I thought they were badgers at first...for just a moment
