Backlit Common Darter (female)
20D, 300 f4L + 1.4 + 56mm ext, ISO 100, 1/100 @ f8, flash 550EX (no beamer) @ 0, M441 + BH1, Remote + MLU, RSP + CS2.

Hi,

Having returned early, (spent three days at a border station waiting for FO advice :frown: and cursing Lebanon and Israel).

Managed to get out to one of my haunts on Sunday, only to find not a lot, spent some time with a group of Common Darters, who decided it was fun to perch relativeley high.... Thought I would try an image against the light with fill flash....

Lots of fine images posted whilst I was away will try to get round to commenting shortly..

All the best

Phil

Hello Phil
Welcome back, sounds like the trip wasn't too good? Sorry about that.
Nice image, I think the back lighting works well too.
Best wishes

Welcome back Phil.

A fine shot to return with.
The low angle is what makes this one for me and the effective and subtle use of fill in flash.

Hi Phil

Great shot, you really got the most out of the conditions and the use of fill flash is spot on. Not obvious but helps to give detail to the near side of the darter. Getting it to do Karaoke as well is a bonus.

cheers

H Phil

I think you have done well with tricky lighting - good use of FF!
