Congratulations this week to Danny Green (Avian), Leann Greene (E,S&S), Jasper Doest (Fauna), Todd Caudle (Flora), Alice Scoggins (M/CU), Mike Cempa (M&N), Patricia Bundage (PA) and Richard Ennis (WC #240 - "Wide Angle MFD").
Actually, Danny had two images that made our short list this week, but since only one can win we picked this one. A good bird in flight image is always difficult to pull off, especially one with an interesting background color, great pose from the bird, high-impact colors throughout, and exhibiting a characteristic behavior. This one had all those things. The composition in the original post wasn't perfect, but the repost shows how easy it would be to make a minor modification to solidify a better composition.
As usual, there were a number of high quality images this week, congrats to all. Keep 'em coming!
It's always hard to make a pick on ESS. There is so much amazing work posted. Leann's image stood out to me in that it went beyond the traditional "pretty picture". This image exhibits thoughtful and pleasant composition, arranging even the most subtle of elements in a nice flowing curve. Beyond that, the image has a unique mood to it - it conveys more than just the elements portrayed. Also noteworthy is the careful processing and great tonal range. In short - this image shows creativity, skill and consideration in every part of the creative process.
This kind of feedback is really useful IMO. Thanks Bob and Guy for sharing your insights. >=))>

I really like this new ideam explaining why an image was picked. As a former moderater I know that this takes some of your time....but it is really well appreciated. Useful feedback! Thanks for this weeks pick and congrats to all the other winners!

I really appreciate your reccomendation for this week's pick and also your explaination. You are absolutely right about the amount of fantastic images posted and the consistency that the members display-is so strong that I had no inkling I was picked until I was congratulated in my email! I would like to play it cool and be humble but being picked in this crowd really rocks. Thank you
