My first Butterfly
Taken out to a location by Kev Lewis this afternoon for Butterflies etc. Cheers Kev for a great afternoon.

On the way back life became a bit insect scary!! Whilst sat in the passenger seat of the car, window wide open, air con on & about half a mile to go to returned destination, I decided to have what must of looked like an epileptic fit in the passenger seat!

WHY? A dirty big wasp came in through the damn window & went down my back, it was not funny Kev lol.

Image Spec:
My first proper Butterfly
D2X - Sigma 105mm Macro (Handheld)
ISO 200, F8.5, 1/350sec

Hi Vince,

If your first attempt is as good as this,we'll have some excellent further attempts to look forward to.

Good job your wasp didn't arrive sooner, otherwise that would have been one nice image US.

Hi Vince,

Very very nice. For a first attempt it's a stunning and faultless result.

Well Done

A very nice first attempt. I think you could have got away with stopping down just a bit more to get all the wing in focus, without making the background too intrusive. Nevertheless, a fine shot of the Gatekeeper (I think).

Very pleasing image Vince. although i'd have gone for f11 or even up to f16 to keep all of the wings in focus

MUCH Better than my first Butterfly..indeed better than most of my Butterfly shots :frown: i always find butterfly's frustrating...you line everything up, focus, compose and go to press the shutter .. and oops they've gone....I don't have many shots to show for 12 years effort...

I've been looking at this for a couple of days now, trying to work out what to say about it, still can't really! lol! That's a good thing though cos it means I like the image and I think the colours are really nice and "delicate" if you know what I mean.
