I wish to start posting, but I would like to know how to add a copyright watermark on an image. I have PS Elements 2. Thanks

Hi Robert - I used to use PSE2, but my memory is pretty weak. Just choose the Type tool. To get the copyright symbol, just hold down the ALT key and type 0169, then type your name and year. You can choose the font you want and size thru the menu at the top. You can also move it by highlighting it and moving with the cursor. I'm far from a techno wizard so I hope I'm using the correct terminology for everything. Looking forward to seeing your posts.

I think he wants a watermark, not just a line of text.

Do everything that Bill said, but then highlight the text and change its opacity to make it transparant so it doesn't block out as much of the image. You can also make it larger then so as to be even less appealing to steal.

Is there anyone that can help me with putting a watermark on my images using Nikon NX2? I have previously used some Watermark software (Watermark factory) that I found on the web. The result was not good as it seemed to darken the images once I added the watermark. Dou Pienaar

Edit: I just noticed that this thread is almost five years old! Dou, when threads are this old, it's best to simply start a new thread because replies to the original post may no longer be applicable. Anyway, let's stay with this thread, for now)

I don't use NX2, but others who do may be able to help you.

Assuming you want a logo-type watermark, rather than simple copyright text, the following procedure requires photo edting software, such as Photo Shop, that supports layers.

First, create a small image that will be your watermark and save it as a *.tiff file.
Open the watermark image is PS
Open the image to which you want to apply the watermark.
Now, make your watermark image the active window, and from the command bar choose Select>All (or Crtl+A)
Next, Choose Edit>Copy (Ctrl+C)
Now, make your photo the active window.
Choose Edit>Paste (Ctrl+V). This will paste your logo onto the image and will, at the same time, create a new layer. Name this layer 'Logo' or Watermark'
With your logo layer the active layer, choose the Move tool. You can then drag the logo to where you want it.
Next, change the blending mode of the logo layer to 'Lumninosity'. Once this is done you will adjust the Fill and Opacity sliders to suit.
Flatten the image, merging all layers.
You are now ready to sharpen your image, convert the profile to sRGB, and save for the web.

I am sure there are many other ways to do this, as is always the case, but this technique does work nicely.
