Per DPReview, The rumoured 10MP Nikon body has now been announced as the D80 here, expected to be on sale from Sep at £699 (body only). The anti has been upped yet again.

So what will Canon's response be? will the rumour mill 3D appear at Photokina, hard to see what the specs will be, other than perhaps a prosumer 1.3 crop camera, the 30D and 5D are too recent to be replaced yet.

It's all part of a cunning plan

Right now sitting on somebodies desk at Nikon and or Canon will be a camera (a D6hxs or EOS 1d mark 10??) has FF 30mp+ anti dust coated sensors..10fps...It was expensive to develop so to pay for it they keep fine tuning extg models adding a few more things each time.giving them an n or s suffix ...dangling the carrot.. in order to make us spend our money to pay for it..this camera will come out in about 5 years and then there won't be anymore after that !!

we paid big bucks to get the 10+ Mega Pixel cameras but in return we got cheap plastc, cropped sensors and low spec cameras with low fps (ie the FF EOS 5D is 3fps and cost £1800 whereas the 15 year old EOS 5 or newer 3 is 5fps has much faster autofocus and you can pick one up for under £300) basically we paid for the development of the digital technology

i've now got a 1d2 and a 5d...i just can't afford to keep chasing the next minor upgrade...i'm going to use what i've got ..enjoy my photography...

one good thing tho..in about 10 years time when my son (whose currenly 12 weeks old) asks for a camera for christmas by then i will be able to get him the 30mp EOS 1d mk 10 for under £200 :jump:

On the Nikon front,
D80 £699 (this with the A100 i can see this going £599 very quickly)
D50 £325, i can see this going to go to £299 soon to compete with the new canon.

Canon front (rumours from a good source),
3000D £199 8mp, cheap body no raw.

Nothing else much but i'm interested in the new 70-300 VR :)

Yes a good way to empty your bank account, I think my next acquisition is going to be nikon capture NX the control point technology is very very good I have been using it for nearly two months now it's very easy to circumvent the 30 day trial period so you can use it for another 30 days?.

Phillip.

No mention of an anti-dust sensor; a major disappointment for me. A movable LCD would have been nice as well. A pro Olympus E330 type camera with a 10+ mp sensor would be my ideal DSLR, looks like I'll have to wait a little bit longer :frown: However I love those Micro-Nikkor lenses. Decisions, decisions

I doubt you will see any big changes this year with the top end Canon's only a bigger screen. My guess would be that they will annouce the next 'big jump' in America in Feb 07 for realease next summer.

That said, any of the current digital pro-am cameras upwards are more than capiable of high quality output - providing they get high-quality input  so concentrate on using rather than in obtaining/dreaming... that way you may be able to afford the dream

The 3D has been available for nearly two years now, it's called the EOS-1D Mark II.

That's why it's hard to see what the specs would be. Take the 30D, add decent auto-focus and metering, ruggedize it a bit and what do you have?
