Monument Valley Panorama
I visited Monument Valley last May on a trip through Utah and Arizona. I thought it was a pretty neat place to photograph with some of the best compositions near the visitor center. This image is actually a composite of several portrait orientation shots that are stitched together in photoshop. Any comments are welcome. I'm especially interested in thoughts on cropping and composing the image. Thanks, Kipp.

Great light at a classic location. Wonderful, subdued color palette. I wouldn't change anything on the crop. Print it. :toast:

Very beautiful, this takes the classic mittens view to another level. What program did you use to stitch this together (seamlessly)?

Awesome shot - amazing sky to go with that sweet light!

Dave,
I just used Photoshop CS to stitch it togeather manually (align images, find good places to stitch, make cuts with appropriate feathering). Since I had taken the image with a leveled, geared tripod head, it wasn't too bad, but it did take some time.

I agree with all above comments Kipp, awesome image! Definitely what I'd call sweet light. How big a file did you end up with on this?

Brent,
I'll have to check the size of the file directly in Photoshop, but I think it is about 4Mx12Mpixels. I was using a 5D and stitched ~10 frames with ~40% overlap. For once I may have more pixels than I need! Kipp

WOW - Very sweet shot! I would keep as-is and make a huge print. You definitely have enough pixels to do that.

Sweet shot Kip. Would love to see a big print, no doubt.

A truely beautiful shot; the sky, the light, the comp. Everything just seems to come together on this one. Would you mind posting a link to a larger version so we can really enjoy and explore within it some more? The posting limits here are just a little restrictive for something like this.

Excellent work Kip. You did a good job getting good light throughout the entire pano.

I really like the colors and the light in this shot. Nice job.
