The last image wasn't really generating a response, so I'll try this one. I'm looking for critiques - composition in particular. I think it works well, but I have many shots of misty meadows, streams and wildflowers from this recent trip and am sorting out the keepers. Thanks.

I personally cannot imagine this composition or image to be any better than it is now... I wish it were mine....

I love this! The only possible thing I'd suggest , if you have the room, is to not cut off the tops of the right trees. For some reason, that just bugs me a little....

My only nit would be the trees on the right hitting the top of the frame. I like it, it's a nice shot, it's a good shot but I don't think it's a great shot.

I love the atmosphere you've captured here, I agree with Sandy, the only thing that could make this any stronger would be to include the trees at the top. Wonderful image.

Very pleasing Rainier scene, and the misty fog adds mood.

Marc,
I very much like the composition as is! Great 'S' curve leading the viewing into heart of the image. The white of the rocks in the top right provide an interesting contrast to the darker colors making up the majorit of the image. Now, please be so kind as to let us newbie's to the Pacific NW know where this is. I am guessing somewhere on a hike around Ranier?

Cropped off trees bug me too. Love the water detail and that fog looks mighty familiar.... having looked again at the fog I see burning of the fog in places that looks a bit hasty ?? Maybe just a little too much of the burning, imo.
This photo depicts a pretty scene, but to be frank it really doesn't do much for me beyond that. I love and admire your work so much not because of the perfect compositions, strong color or the hardships that you had to endure to make them; instead, what makes your photos stand out from the crowd is the fact that you are not afraid to push the limits. In much of your photography I see pure and natural scenes transformed into fantasy worlds. That excites me and serves to stir the imagination. In my opinion, this photo somehow fails to live up to that high standard. It is good but not quite there. I believe I can expect more from a Marc Adamus photo.

Burning, no burning...I personally like the atmosphere throughout this image. As for the cutoff trees, yeah, it would be "nice" to see the tops...but then there's more room at the top which takes your eye higher and directs it away from the intimacy of this awesome stream and scene.
Killer find Marc! I see what John is saying, but I think it does work quite well and would be a good addition to your portfolio. Fog, Stream, Flowers...way cool combo.

You know, I actually included the tops of the trees in the original comp. All that white space kept pulling my eye away from the stream though. I'm glad to know some would prefer more space a the top also.
This is somewhere in Rainier park. I took hundereds of images along many, many streams with wildflowers in full bloom on the West, NW, and North sides of the peak. I decline to list the exact locations due to fear of damage to a very sensitive environment.

Additional "sky" would have been more distracting that missing tree tops, IMO. Nice moody alpine scene. Good for you keeping these locations to yourself...we need unique locales in our files to help set us apart from one another and, I agree, these areas couldn't withstand being overrun by photogs.
