Here's a shot from the Cirque of the Towers, taken during a recent trip with Scott Bacon and Rick D. I stumbled upon this scene during a random hike up in the cirque. Though early afternoon usually isn't such a good time to shoot, I couldn't resist those jagged shadows and bright yellow flowers!
Interesting thing too that I just noticed is that you can actually see the place where Scott and I were camped out... that tiny little speck of a snowfield on the ridge in the far left distance. A little trickle from that snowpatch was our water source; but only in the daytime when the snow was melting!
Scott & Rick - let's see some more!
Oh, and by the way, more photos from this trip here, along with photos from another 6 day trip into the Winds and a 4 day trip into the Tetons. 16 days of backpacking straight!

Hi Jack,
Lovely shot. The deep blue sky and bright yellow flowers compliment each other nicely. The Wind River Range has to be some of the most spectacular scenery on the planet.
Cheers,

Wow, I've only got one of my 4x5s scanned and you've got a whole gallery posted! Keep 'em comin'!
I love that shot of Ladd Peak from the Green River in Three Forks Park!!
And I still think Wolf's Head is cooler than the Watchtower.

Hi Jack. Your photos are very nice. I especially like #4 from Wind River and #2 from the Tetons. Thanks for posting!

Wow, Jack that is an amazing gallery. You truly have a unique way of looking at things. Actually I think the one you posted here is my least favorite of the bunch - the mountainin the upper right goes a bit too black for my taste.

I REALLY enjoyed your Wind River gallery. Inspirational.
I also am not a fan of extreme polarization, so I agree with Tony's comments.
Wow - you've been busy. Do you do anything at a 'normal' pace!?
Great work in there, Jack. My two favorties are Ladd Peak and the one of Sulphur and Stroud. The landscape version of the Cirque reflection is awesome. That should put an end to comments about there not being any excellent images from in the Cirque!

Inspiring Jack, to say the least. The three forks park image is stunning ... well, they ALL are really. Wow.

Thanks, Jack, awesome gallery and it sounds like 16 days in Heaven. I have done a lot of off trail in the Winds BK (Before Kids ;-) and your images bring back some great memories and motivation to do it again.

Thanks for you comments! Glad you enjoyed my photos.
Jack, welcome back... I've been checking the forum each morning, and as each day passed without a Jack Brauer post, I knew we were going to be in for a whopper!
Sounds like you had a great trip!
The image you posted certainly is stunning, but on my uncalibrated LCD monitor, it looks slightly over-polarized. Any one else see this?
I can't wait to check the rest of the gallery.

Excellent gallery! The sunset alpen glow on Mount Owen is spectacular I also think sunset on Ladd Peak from Green River and sunset on Sulphur Peak are terrific. Sounds and looks like great trips; just can't believe how many great reflections you experienced! I like the one you posted, but it is overpolarized with a slight hint of a blue case in the mtns.
Great all around, as I've come to expect from you.

Thanks again for your comments and compliments. As for the image posted here, it probably is overpolarized, which along with the light falloff of the 75mm lens in the corners and Velvia film, makes for some overly dark sky and shadows. But as you might notice, I really enjoy the dark black element in my photos, and here I think the darkness holds the composition together. I like photos where the color seems to eminate from black, which is probably the main reason why I really like this one.
