Earlier Brent posted his shot of our quick trip up there with Rene for sunset. Here's my take on that fabulous evening. We had 3 4x5's on the summit, with 3 different focal lengths. I shot the widest at 90mm, Brent was at ~180mm, and Rene had a 400mm beast up there.
I shot this as the sun just started to drop below the thin cloud near the horizon. I wanted some good light on the rock but as a result had the sun go a bit nuclear on me. To try and hold it all together I had 5 stops of grad on. I'll post more when I get them scanned.

Excellent work John. You certainly brought it all together very well. This is striking.
Outstanding, ethereal image - love the light just kissing the rock in the foregroound.

John – great shot. That was definitely the most amazing sunset I have experienced from the top of Mount Evans.
Looks like you got a few keepers from your CO trip.

Darren – Unfortunately, I was in the wrong spot at sunset. I was below the summit, trying to shoot some of the ridges. By the time I hauled my gear to the top and set up shop, I was able to fire off only one "Hail Mary" exposure. Then the sun disappeared behind the ridges.

Rene - that's a bummer that you didn't get much from the top. Heck, the light was moving so fast, Brent didn't even have time to talk to himself!!

Very Nice
