Discovered this one blooming bush of Lewis Monkeyflowers growing along one side of a small rapids next to a trail on Mt Rainier. Emphasized the wildflowers with the rapids as a background in the evening light. I was hoping for more intense clusters of color on both sides of the creek, but the monkeyflowers were sparse.

A little too much direct sun for my taste and a bit too OOF in the BG. Nice comp otherwise, Harold.

.........I think this actually works for me. Don't know why, as I'm not usually one for OOF backgrounds and especially harsh light but you seem to have handled it well. I'm really drawn to the flowers. The stream is not drawing too much attention.

John, Marc,
Thanks for your feedback. I consider it mostly a wildflower portrait in its environment, rather than a landscape shot.
Although the sky was clear, it was shot a half hour before sunset, frontlit but no shadows, warm light (seemed to make the flower colors pop).
The wind was blowing somewhat, and I needed a faster shutter speed to capture the detail in the front flowers. Think I chose f11 or so using the dof preview. Didn't think the background contributed too much of interest in this scene. The flowers do look much sharper on the slide. Just some thoughts.

Harald,
The light is a little too harsh for my taste. I do like the depth of the image and the composition.

I replaced the original image on the top. I reduced the contrast a little on the flowers, and think it's more appealing now. Thanks.

The second version is far better, Harald.

I like this too, the flowers in the FG make it for me.
