We have made a few changes to our form-based email system to fight spam;
1. You now must be registered and logged in to have email links appear.
2. On the "send an email" screen, the "from" fields are now automatically filled in with your user name and registered email address. If your user name is a bit cryptic, it may be a good idea to include your name in the email message.
3. As before, the email recipient can simply use the "reply" function and the reply will be sent to your registered email address.
If you receive any spam through the NPN email system, please forward the email to us!. We can now easily find and delete the offending registration and if neccessary, ban the registrant by email address and IP.
Thanks for your understanding on these neccessary changes!
Update 8/27 - It looks like the same thing is now happening on PhotoPortfolios. We'll make the same changes there this week.
Thanks, Jim. I haven't received spam, but, unfortunately, I have received several vulgar (and "anonymous") e-mails through NPN from people who have been displeased with a variety of issues related to the forums. This ought to put an end to a lot of that nonsense.

Rick, nonsense indeed. If someone has a complaint or someting to say, they should step up to the plate and do so directly.
Jim,
As well as Rick, I too have received quite a few vulgar emails complaining about the forums and how they were run, when I was an ESS moderator. A big reason for moving on.

Jim, I am sorry to hear that you had to suffer such non-sense. If I was in your shoes, I would have moved on too. At least now, such emails cannot be sent with impunity.

Thanks Jim - any additional insulation and protection from jerks is always appreciated.
