Where Would You Go?

I've got a long weekend coming, dates are flexible. Could be any weekend in September or October.

I'm looking for an area or areas with lots of photographic opportunities. Something within 6 hours drive of Portland.

I've been the coast many times, so I'm more interested in hearing what you'd recommend elsewhere.

I haven't explored much east of the Cascades, so any advice for those areas would be especially welcomed.

North Cascades, second weekend of October. Be prepared to hike, be prepared to shoot some pretty spectacular fall color. If you wanna join me, let me know.

I second the painted hills and backcountry roads around Central Oregon...through Shaniko... Kosta, I still plan on at least a three day weekend during that time. I do have to check and see if I have to fly to NY somewhere in there...I'll let ya know.
