The Sept. 2006 issue of the Canadian publication Photo Life. Prior to this, I've only seen Mr. Kayne's photographs on the web. They are amazing in print, even at the small sizes in the magazine. The bottle on barn beams would be spectacular as a large print.

The text, which describes the photographer's project is a sincere and humble description by a photographer gently driven by his own self-assigned project.

Well done.

I'll have to head to Barney Nobles and pick up a copy. I guess we can now say we knew him before he became famous.

Kent,
although I would be careful with the word "famous" concerning nature photography:smile:, you might be too late, as he was already featured in OP magazine as a good landscape photographer of the prairie region a while ago.

Joe's images of rural America are among my most treasured photographs. I just hope they will become a book some day!

Having seen so many of Joe's barn photos on his web site and posted here, it certainly does seem like a wonderful group of photos and a unique project of self-motivation just waiting for a place to be noticed. I think they are not only extraordinary as documentaries or scenics, but perhpas unique in that they are 4X5 images. Glad to see him getting some recognition, but the project deserves more than a magazine article. Maybe Joe has some plans that I'm not aware of and hope they will get some more attention and appreciation.

Way to go, Joe!!!!

I saw the article in OP from a few years back. I will have to pick this one up.

And thanks again for the film in Colorado last fall. You saved my bacon and gave me the chance to bring home some images I really like.

I do not generally frequest this discussion forum and I was directed to this post. Thanks for all of the comments! I pursued a book project in the past and had some interest. I may decide to go that way in the winter. Of course, like all of us, I am still waiting for (or pursuing) the "perfect" image. I was a presenter at the View Camera magazine annual conference this year. I presented my nature landscape portfolio and the "Barn Life" portfolio and was surprised by the interest in the Barn Life project. By the way, if you have not seen the article yet, Eric Fredine provides a nice blurb.

Harley, I assume that you would do the same...

Thanks.

Joe.
