No clouds on this trip but I enjoyed the interplay of light and landscape in the background complimented by a rushing glacial stream. North face of Oregon's Broken Top peak from way off trail somewhere. It was a really nice spot to camp. I could have spent a week there. Yes, the water was very cold.

GREAT LIGHT SHOW! Once again you work your magic.

Really strong and beautiful, Marc. Amazing how strong your compositions always are. You know the best vantage point for a shot and totally nail it everytime. Cool shutter speed on this one - not so slow that it goest silky - that water texture is really great here also.
Beautiful light and comp. But I find my eye distracted to the rock in the foreground which would be exaggerated in a large print. I really like a square crop just above the rock.

I agree, the rock distracts me somewhat too. It's less prevailent in the landscape version.

I like them both very much - especially the landscape orientation..

It does look like agreat place to be. did you use a CP? I dont know if I care a bunch for the gradient sky. I'd wish for more of a uniform color blue.

I know, I know I always get to you with those sky gradients, Rick. I love them. They are a definite trademark in my images. Probably always will be. Ya know Ansel did that a lot too. I've always thought they really help emphasize features. I also know they're not for everyone and this might be a little too strong. As for the polarizer, no. I didn't use one. I don't always like them because they reduce fine textures at times and there was not much glare to speak of anyway due to fast rushing water and the angle of light. Thanks for commenting.

Cool beans...
lately, more and more (as you know), I am finding myself not liking CP effects, especially on blue skies, no clouds. I know Ansel had that effect, I'd probably tell him the same thing too . Actually, Ansel had some great work...but when they started doing posters for $20...it made me lose some interest. It became more common and less fine art, IMHO.
