It's my favorite bird! We had them in our yard in Florida. Nice shot Mike! I've never really seen the fall migration, just the spring migration at Alamosa/Monte Vista wildlife refuges. Got details/timing for the fall, Bill?

Early to mid November is a good bet for the first large groups to arrive at Bosque del Apache. I don't know how much earlier they reach the Alamosa/Monte Vista refuges.
The Bosque Festival of the Cranes is scheduled for Nov 14-19, this year.

Mike can you say more about how close you were, methods and gear you used, this seems pretty close up. I'd like to go to new Mexico later this year.
