Gosh that must have been a long way off.... great detail etc considering the distance, might prefer a touch more space at the bottom for the 'virtual' legs and a bit more of a head turn had the heron co-operated..
Hi Philip, nice detail for 800 + x1.4 and iso 800 :)

Excellent detail considering the distance. I agree with Phill that a little more space at the bottom would be nice but other than that I really like the composition.

Hi Philip
I agree re. a little more space at the bottom but the rest of the composition is fine. I quite like the head position makes him/her look more relaxed and not aware of your presence!

Nice, i like the watery BG, i prefer the images on NC though ;)
i've not been out recently, need my 500mm, and some nice weather...
Hi all thanks for looking and commenting this is the full exif information it was taken as a test shot as I am trying a few new things out I very rarely use the high ISO's this was taken using the Nikon tc1.4e mk1 telephoto converter as it seems to give slightly better image quality than my sigma converter up to about 50 meters but after 50m my sigma converter seems to be better image quality wise.
