Recently I came across a web site: www.mainzsites.com. It appears that the web site is under construction, but I began looking at the links and the publishers claim that the images are the product of a 12 mega pixel camera and published in resolutions from 150 dpi to 500 dpi (see Nature: Wildlife's Nature link). The images are huge and they claim the image uses something called HDWeb(tm) Technology. I have not been able to reach anyone to explain this technology or how it is published to the web. Some of the links talk about a compression engine and a zoom capability that does not seem possible for the Web.
Has anyone seen this site? Or know anything about this technology or this company? I would love to be able to show my images on the web in this resolution and size.

P.S. The publishers claim that the images cannot be downloaded and they have implemented new security features that minimize the possibility to steal the images.

I checked out the site and didn't see anything out of the ordinary. Just 12mp digital images that you can view at 100% and can't download by right-clicking. I couldn't find any information supplied explaining the supposed "HDWeb" technology and could not determine whether there was any implementation of special technology. The images look just like RAW files from my Canon 5D. There are many ways for web sites to make it harder to steal photos. This site has a layered GIF that I'm sure Jim could explain better than I. Still, I would caution anyone against wanting to display their full-res files on the web. I never would.

Well...there seerms to be something special about the plugin....it seems like the plugin uses a USM technique coupled with the size of the image.....it adjust the amount of sharpness while zooming....kind of cool....but not really useful IMO and as Marc said, I would never post full-res images on the web,

They're using a custom flash application to display and zoom into large images. There isn't anything on the surface that makes me think this is anything too unique. They have gone to great length to conceal URLs in their code with a couple javascript programs. With enough time it might be possible to figure out the source path for the Flash, but ultimately with out the source Flash code you're not likely to pull the high resolution file.
Thanks to everyone who has already responded. I am compiling some information from other forums and the tool the web site is using and I will post for anyone who cares.
