Cirque of the Towers
Haven't quite coaxed a good 4x5 out of the scanner yet, so here's a digital snapshot of the Cirque. Not the most technically sound image (blown clouds), but it was raining in the Cirque and part way up the valley to Deep Lake, creating a some nice light. The spotty tonal variation is caused by low patchy fog/clouds and the rain in the distance.

Despite it's shortcomings, it's actually one of my favorite snapshots from the trip. It really shows off the essence of the Winds - dynamic weather, fascinating geology and incredible topography.

I really like this one Rick. Very soft and dreamy...the background mountains almost look like a backdrop.

This reminds me of the great paintings by Beirstadt. Very sureal and beautiful, it doesn't reach out and slap you, it invites you in for a stroll.

Yes, a nice feel. I can almost feel the conditions you were in. Looks breezy, with a what-comes-next sense of weather. Can't wait to see the LF chromes.

Nice! I was waiting to see this one, and can't wait to see the 4x5.

When Rick was taking this shot I was crouched under the overhang of a large boulder, riding out the storm at 10,800 feet. But at least I got to see the same scene.

Everything seems to be flowing down into the valley - except for that beautiful anchor rock and its shadow in the lower mid-ground. I love it!
