Considering this was shot at the Grand Canyon, I wonder if this person might be on here....anyways.....thought I would share with ya all.
I have to admit, seeing this made my head spin....some people will do anything for a great shot, and some are just plain idiotic. Case in point: http://www.flickr.com/photos/hansvandevorst/216200392/in/set-72157594222213140 and make 100% sure you READ the photographers description below the shot. Then after that, get ready to have your anxiety level jump through the roof . http://www.flickr.com/photos/hansvandevorst/217713707/in/set-72157594222213140/
Some people just make me wonder.....

Wow. My fear of heights will definitely keep me from doing anything that stupid.

It made a good shot for you!

Yikes!

What was he thinking?? Oh, maybe he wasn't...

Oh come on, He was in thong sandals and did it with one hand. How hard could it have been?
I couldn't imagine watching this nut fall to his death.

My fear of heights will definitely keep me from doing anything that stupid.

My still having a few brain cells rubbing together would be enough to dissuade me from such a stupid stunt. This guy needs to be found, fined and deported.

For a minute I thought it was Darren in his younger years because the guy was wearing thong sandals ?   But I noticed this guy was wearing long pants....

Looks like a candidate for the Darwin Awards. He could really get some attention in a pair of RMNP speedos!

If I was him, I'd have extended my tripod then tightroped on it.

check out this one http://www.flickr.com/photos/baumer1781/218854742/ this guys crazy. Anyone notice the 6pack of Bud next to him also? Spose ya have to get up some liquid courage to do a stunt like this

That's unbelievable! Stupidity doesn't even come close to describing that maneuver. Darwin was robbed. :jump:

Unfortnately (or fortunately) this guy did survive and can possibly reproduce! No Darwin Award for him. . .

I did see a different set of links to this the other night. This guy did take a nap while out on the rock! Maybe it was after drinking the six pack.

Perhaps it's too generous to call this schmuck a photographer. I would say he's a tourist with a camera.

Hmmm...this brings back memories of my own brush with death...http://gcollier.com/grantfall.jpg.

There seems to be a lot fringing and pixelating around this guy. I have to wonder if it's Photoshopped.

The sandals, the beer and hand-holding the camera & tripod on the jump back (cause, you know, you really don't need two hands to make that maneuver)...makes me wonder if it's not a big setup. I'm the most cynical person I know and even I have trouble believing that anyone can be that stupid.

But if it is real, I'd like to see him try it with an LF setup...

Hey didn't I see this on Mission Impossible. I think thats Tom Cruise. Probably why Paramount got rid of him.

What an idiot, it reminded me this summer I was in Yellowstone this summer and at Tower Falls the day a lady died in front of her family by climbing over the SAFTY rail to get a picture with her point and shoot!!!!
