Yes - it's an actual tranny! If my comps and Scott's look a lot a like, we were pretty much side-by-side much of the time. I'd ask him what his exposure settings were, he'd tell me, then I'd say "uh...yeah....that's about what I have, too! {adjust, adjust, adjust...expose!}
p.s. I actually reduced the magenta from the tranny; the mountains had a cast from the actual light, but I thought it looked better toned down a little.

I've heard of purple mountain majesties, but I'm thinking those clouds need some work. Or more candy.

Hmmm, maybe I had the right exposure ( or maybe not!), but I definitely like your composition better! I love the way those foreground rocks are placed. Now I know why you were so busy gathering rocks all afternoon!

The comp is great in this shot, but first thing I thought was that there should have been a cast on the rocks from the great sky color. Can you show the before toning down version too?

Rick - I like it.
But what did the A&W Root Beer Candies do for you? Is that a new and different PS action?
Craig - this is pretty close. I didn't keep a copy of the before-toning down version, so I reversed the steps used to tone it down; this version is pretty much what the slide looks like, with a slight increase in saturation (which may account for the purple clouds majesty that Todd pointed out). But as you can see in Scott's first post from the winds, there was some nice (funky?) color in the sky.
Scott - believe it or not, chomping on hard candy helps me concentrate... Not a great habit, but it beats smoking!
Amazing image Rick!!! I need to have you come and help me sort out my rocks and exposure. I thought I was the only one carrying rootbeer candy.

Rick, thanks for the second post. Maybe it's just me, but I like this second a better. It seems more natural with the color cast from the sky being reflected from the mountains/lake. Purple smurple, if that was the way nature wanted that evening to be, who are we to disagree.
