I'm taking a quick, fun trip to Sarasota Aug31 thru Sep02 to help some friends open their new home. Does anyone have morning or evening light photo op recommendations?

My parents lived there years ago and I have been there many times, although not many recent trips after my interest in photography started. I usually stay on Siesta Key, and the sunsets are awesome. Myakka River (I think it's a state park) is a good place for wildlife. You may want to ask Jerry Greer also, I think he travels down that way occasionally.

I just spent six months in Bradenton, just north of Sarasota. I've never been there this time of year, but Myakka is definetly a good place for birds and a ton of other critters, any other type of photogrpahy as well. Super cool place. Lido Key's natural area has raccoons everywhere. Sunsets are nice all up and down the coast. Longboat key has potential for sunrises as well. I'm mostly a bird guy and pelicans, shorebirds, osprey should be present this time of year as well. Oscar Sherer State Park has the endangered scrub jay.
If I had to pick one place for you to check out for all types of photography, it would definetly be Myakka State Park, I think it's only about half an hour inland from sarasota, on Rt 72, I think, but you better look at a map to be sure. :toast:
