caught this shot of alpenglow on Mt. Shuksan at about 8:15 last Saturday evening... i'd gone up to Artist Point for the afternoon, and on the way down, stopped by Picture Lake to see if i could get a nice reflection. the lake was calm, but the light wasn't what i wanted, and i almost left too soon, but as i was packing my gear into the car, i notice the mountain starting to glow, so i hurried back to the lake and snapped some shots. this one made the 150-mile drive back home worthwhile! Shuksan's showing some nice color. You don't know how long I've stood about where this was taken hoping for a break in the clouds only to be disappointed; looks like you didn't have that problem.
There's an aweful lot of contrast between the sky and the trees, so I bet this exposure was tricky. I wonder if a GND would've made it easier.
Great color and reflection. Some shadow detail would be nice, but would be hard to capture. GND exposures can be a little tricky with reflections like this, perhaps a comp between two exposures would do it as well. Over all it is a very pleasing image.
