Hi folks!!
I processed this image in Adobe Lightroom Beta 3 using the Grey Scale adjustments & Shadow/Hilight toning. So in this image I converted to grey scale then added some yellow to the hilights and some blue to the shadows.
I've been twiddling around in Adobe's new product Lightroom beta 3 for Windows. Overall I like it. The whole thing is a MAJOR paradigm shift from Photoshop. But as a photographer who really enjoys constantly tuning his "behind the camera craft" Lightroom works for me. What do I mean by that? I mean Lightroom works best for images that do not require a lot of work in Photoshop to get the previsualised results. I do NOT think it will replace Photoshop. Instead I see myself using it beside Photoshop.
What do I NOT like in Lightroom? The database thing is a BIG adjustment for me. I'm a systems admin by day and I live and die by my folder structure for sorting out my images. Lightroom uses a database schema that I find troublesome. This is the biggest paradigm shift for me. I haven't given up yet but I'm not having a good time with the database thingy...
What's the BEST thing I like about Lightroom? If you've ever used a RIP application for printing and liked that you are gonna LOVE the print features in Lightroom!!!!!! It isn't a full blown RIP tool but it sure is a quantum leap ahead of Photoshop when it comes to printing!! Hands down my favorite feature in Lightroom!!!

People have been trying to give me free Lightroom trials for months now. I'm scared of it. Well, anything that requires more time behind the computer to learn really. I haven't had the time. I didn't even use PS until 03'. But I will, as time allows use it beside Photoshop until I get the hang of it. I took their online instruction video and it seems like I have enough info to get started with it. I'm not a heavy PS person - rather I like to get the image in-camera and spend little time working it, so Lightroom seems to have some advantages there. I really like how it's organized to speed up workflow.
I like this image quite a bit too. Particularly how the stream breaks through a very chaotic scene. The conversion looks great.

That is a chaotic scene - I also like the conversion and I'm learning a bit about lightroom. It's interesting is about all I have to say right now

I think I remember the color version of this; if so the B&W helps a lot to tone down the complexity of the scene. Maybe a little larger medium or a little blur would make this feel less busy. On the other hand the flow you have in the water provides a nice contrast.
I'm curious what happed in the B&W conversion. There's a definite pink cast to this.
