I will be visiting New York in January or February of next year. Is it worthwhile spending 3-4 days at Barnegat? I have heard a lot about it as a good place for wintering ducks and waders. Any kind of information appreciated, like species, accomodation etc etc

If you can travel a little further south, I'd recommend Cape May. Otherwise Long Beach Island State Park, just south of Seaside Heights is worth a trip.

Certainly worth a day or two at least. Species include Purple Sandpiper, Dunlin, Brant, Harlequin Duck, Long-tailed Duck. A nice place to stay is The Drifting Sands Oceanfront Motel in Ship Bottom, New Jersey.
