Wonderful gallery! I enjoyed reviewing many of the images you've already posted on ESS.
If your world travels take you through Denver, please let the RMNP group know. The group has a lot of hardcore LF photographers and even a few Austrians. We'd love to show you the Rockies, but you'll have to bring your own beer.

I really believe that is probably the best 4x5 color portfolio I've ever seen. I think "Stormy Sunrise" is my favorite. Absolutely stunning images from what has obviously been a long career and many travels. Hopefully the portfolio is featured next month, as it should be.
thanks all for your kind comments!
Bill, if we decide to come to the colorado rockies, we'll pack some austrian beer for you guys also!
Marc, thanks a lot, we know you're a tough "critquer", so it means a lot to us. Our career started in 1998 (meaning we quit any other jobs) with a 10 month journey through Canada and Alaska, photographing completely different things then we do now, having adventures (mostly seakayak) until we ran out of money! For several years now, we are able to concentrate only on our personal projects, traveling ca. 6 months a year, shooting LF landscapes exclusevly.
You favouring "stormy sunrise" comes to no surprise, it's one of the few images we managed to make, which has the dramatic mood you seem to make your hallmark with, having so many of those great shots in your files! we know how hard you work for that.
btw, check the banff mountain fest website.

Bill P., I just counted the members on the RMNP site, that's too many beers! you'll have to stick with budlight.
however, I visited your hp and saw that you've been to Austria and on the Schafberg. You might recognize our last posting on men&nature, then... hope you liked our little country and the Alps, no comparsion with the Colorado Rockies, of course.

Yes, I see we both recieved 'special mention' for our photography. I'd take either of our images long before the one that took grand prize in the 'mountain landscape' category though. I was really surprised. Most photographers could have easily driven to the Athabasca glacier overlook and snapped that "best photo" image. This is especially known to the folks there in Banff who have no doubt seen thousands of similar images.
I particularly like your image for its abstract nature and intriguing qualities. Not something you see every day!
I think they must have taken the print I sent them and scanned it or something. I can't figure out where the cyan cast is coming from in their website's presentation of my "crater lake" image.
I can't compliment you enough after viewing your amazing portfolio. Your work is outstanding. I'm not sure how you sell your photographs, but assuming you have large gallery prints on display, I would make a special trip to visit the gallery if I ever end up in Austria. You have great range as landscape photographers, a unique style and an obvious passion for capturing the best displays of natural grandeur our world has to offer. My personal favorites are stormy sunrise and weststrand evening. I hope the editors of NPN choose your portfolio for permanent display as 'portfolio of the month' so others unfamiliar with your work can have a chance to view it as well.

What stunning work. I keep reading that Europe is all developed and that there aren't any wild places to photograph like there is here in the US. You certainly prove that opinion to be wrong.
Thank you for sharing your wonderful work with us.

That is a great portfolio. It's diverse while remaining interesting throughout.
marc,
I wouldn't care too much about that web presentation. your name is there, you web adress.. I agree with you remarks about the selectees, but that's how photo competitions go... We never agree unless we are the big winners
Michael,
thanks so much for your kind comment. we don't run our own gallery (maybe someday, one big dream of us) we try to have large prints on display as much as possible in selected locations. in nov. there are ca. 20 huge prints in the vienna congress hall (UNO headqurters), but let us know hwenever you have a chance to visit Austria.
Dan,
thanks a lot. partly it is true, keep in mind we shoot a lot in natural sanctionaries like National Parks or so. but it's a challenge (and a long-term photo project of ours) to present eurpes natural landscape and wilderness as many don't think it still exists. it does in may places! it is also like a certain school, shooting landscapes when you can not always turn around 360° without seeing buildings, poles or sg. we do enjoy it very much, though, to switch to other places (like N-America, New Zealand and the like) and enjoy the wild wide views.
Richard, Rodney,
thanks a lot for your comments!

BTW, the Autumn in Lapland image on the second page is one of the most incredible images I've ever seen. It's beauty is beyond words!
