I’ve been a visiting this forum for well over a year. I’m amazed at the quality of the images members post on this site.I’ve also been learning a lot from viewing the images and feedback that others have posted.
I’ve been learning about photography since I took my first class almost 4 years ago. In March, I bought a Nikon D200 and joined the digital world (quite a learning curve for me!)
I took this shot of the Beaver Ponds in RMNP’s Kawuneeche Valley just after sunrise when the clouds were spectacular and the mist was drifting across the ponds. As I was getting ready to leave the ponds, Eric Stensland came over and introduced himself. With his and other’s encouragement, I thought I’d post one of my shots for some feedback.
I used Camera Raw and Photoshop CS2 to adjust contrast, levels, sharpening and remove some dust spots.
Glad you posted Darlene! I really like the way the shoreline leads you into the image with the pine tree then pointing up at the dramatic sky. Very creative! My shots from that morning weren't quite as exciting but it sure was a pleasant morning! http://morninglight.us/single_pages/rmnp/summer/Beaver%20Pond%20Blue.htm It was great to meet you. Again, great shot! Keep posting!

This is a great shot. I am also glad you got the grass in the forground in the front left. Very nice job!
Look forward to seeing more.

Hi, Darlene! Very nice shot! I rarely get to the west side of the park and always enjoy seeing photos from that side. Do you live in the area like Erik? Welcome!

Very nice Darlene - I do not have much to add as previous posters said it all.
Welcome Darlene! Really nice shot - ditto on all the comments already left above!

Thanks everyone for the great welcome and the encouraging comments.
I just wish I could carry those clouds around with me! I've shot from that location many times and that was the first time I'd seen great clouds there.
Although I don't live on the west side of RMNP (I live in Lyons), I really enjoy the west side: fewer people, nice trails, and a beautiful valley.
Thanks again everyone and maybe after I get to the San Juans and the Tetons this fall, I'll have something else to post.
Happy shooting!

Do you by any chance participate in the artists' co-op in Lyons? (Is it Red Canyon Arts or something like that?) Lyons is really a cute town. It's grown a lot since the 80s.

Super image - I like the way the shoreline sweeps through the frame, and, of course, the clouds. The exposure looks perfect. Great work!
