Hi
I'm looking for a camera bag ((top loader/sling pack). My equipment is Canon 30D, Canon 100-400mm IS lens. Vertical Crip with Battery Pack, Canon 17-85mm USM lens, Tamron 90mm Macro lens, Canon 550ez flash + CF cards & lens cleaning kit & 3 filters.
Since I also trek quite a bit, I carry a backback & hence my option is to have a toploader/sling pack kind of bag.
Can any one who has used/reviewed tell me whether Lowepro Toploader 75AW is better or Tamrac 5749 Velocity 9 Pro?
From personal experience Lowepro products are superior to the other brand. With this much equipment I would prefer a backpack + small bag, instead of one-bag-for-all solution.

From a personal week long trip in the Wind River Mountain range this past summer I used a Lowepro 75AW and carried a 20D, 10 - 20 Sigma lens, 28-135 IS lens, 4 filters, remote shutter release, and cleaning kit. It carried well with the chest harness that Lowepro sells with it. I might recommend trying to tie off the topload harness to your backpack straps itself instead of having the harness straps under your backpack straps. It would probably be more comfortable. I have no experience with the Tamrac products. Lowepro sells high quality gear.

I use the Velocity 7 which is just a smaller version of the 9 for my day roving. It fits my D50 body with 18-70 kit lens attached, my 50mm, 85mm, Cokin P filter system with 3 filters, blow brush, lens pen, blower, remote.......ok my whole setup which isnt much.
I love it for the easy access to everything, but to tell you if Im out for more then 3 hours the sling style get real uncomfortable. I wouldnt even think of using it for a week long or even weekend trip.

Had the 75, sold it when I got the mini trekker. Wish I never did, certain times it would be perfect. It is a great bag.

Strangely, I have both. The lowepro seems nicer, but I can get a 5D w/70-200 2.8 lens hood extend in the velocity 9 and close the top. No way at all with the lowepro. I'm not checking model #. I have the big lowepro toploader/slingpack, and the big tamrac toploade/slingpack.
The sling back works great, unless the packs are overloaded. I think you may have too much for either. These are more day packs.
