A bit of computer problems this way... but $3,000.00 later I am up & running... gadddddddds... well it was time I guess my Dell was almost 5 years old & it was becoming hard to have alot of photographs on my hard drive...(a dinosaor by alot of standards... LOL)
anyways new computer a bigger screen & lots of extra things to learn now... one being that this computer has a lightscribe labeling for my dvd's... excited about that but not sure when I will beable to get to figuring it all out but am sure it will be grand once I do...
lots more power, infact about three times what I did have... oh my, my photoshop is unbelievable now... that is so excitinggggggg...
anyways hope after I get caught up on all my portrait shoots & one wedding I have yet to proof, & a couple others shoots proofed & delievered I will get some time with some of the wildlife images I have been wanting to work on... & hoping to get out a little for some more birdie shoots...
ok going to try to get more done so I can get back to enjoying the viewing & commenting on all the great images here...

Congrats on the new computer! What kind did you get?
thanks Bill...
I have had dell computer my last two, IBM before that, but my partner has always had hp... so with the problems I have had in the past for the kind of money I spent I wasn't very pleased... this last time with dell my moniter the screen went blank, so took it to best buy & they said it a goner... I held a extended warrenty with dell, the least to say for big money, it was the 5 yr. the moniter is 5years & 17 days old... gggggrrrrrrrr... they said oh to bad it's out of coverage now... gggggggggrrrrrrrrrrrrrr...
so then I was just going to get just a new screen but when going to best buy to have my computer upgraded(I was told it was upgradable to more the twice what I started with) I was informed that I could not add any ram to my 2200... gaddddddddddds... they so tell you alot of crap when you buy a computer that really isn't true... but anyways... I just thought I would go with hp this time...
it's the new core 2 duo with a really good geforce graphics card & boy oh boy does my programs all just zip now... so niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice... am smiling on that now...
lots of extras... I was planning on going with a Mac next year for just the business so wanted to stay under the 3,000 mark, well we came close... LOL
anyways... I am hoping this one gives me lots of good running time...
be interested if anyone has one or has heard anything on it, because I really didn't get time to go check out the ratings on it... I moved up from a 17" screen to a 20.1 that is really nice, didn't think 3 inches would make that much difference but it sure does... :)
For what it's worth I was pretty disappointed with Dell's service recently too and as a result decided to look elsewhere when the time comes for a new machine.
I recently needed a monitor upgrade and went with a ViewSonic rather than Dell, despite the Dell being a little cheaper. I'd rather pay a little extra and be able to call a real person who actually knows something about the product they are supporting.

Jill - I too have had horrible problems with Dell in the past - NEVER AGAIN! My latest computer is an HP and I have been VERY pleased to date. Hopefully you'll be happy as I have been with them.
thanks guys... is sometimes nice to know you are not being over picky or asking to much in the way of service... hp had to help us with the wireless settings, when we first started everything up we couldn't get this computer to hook to the net... but when calling hp direct they stayed with us until it was connected & running even when my tone was less then nice their tone stay calm & helpful... I let them know how important that was to us... I hope it continues on that track...
Guy I would have like to have gotten a ViewSonic I had look at sometime back but there were not any in stock so I got the best one best buy had in stock... not to say there won't be even little larger one in my future... LOL
but the SyncMaster 204B sure is looks nice right now... we'll see if it all goes well after the color calibarting...
anyways am here at the computer for hours the next few days... oh boy that catch up... LOL
oh another thing that is nice is I got myself not only that extra extra in box hard drive but also another one that is holding my hard drive from my dell... so have all my stuff without going though alot of hassle... that is soooooooo sweet...
Juza, I remember your saying your were working on getting a new computer in a thread some weeks back... I will have to go back read what you had to say about some of it...
glad to know you are happy with it... so far I am very much enjoying it... think it will be some time to get all the new things figured out but it will be nice once I can...
this bit bigger, bold bright screen is amazing... that part is making it a little more enjoyable transfering other things off the external drive that has my old hard drive in it...
going to try to keep this one a bit more organized... famous last words... LOL nooooooo this time I mean it... LOL LOL :)

I'm glad to know that I am not the only person who will never buy a DELL computer again. Their service and sometimes even their products can be horrible.
from the sounds of it Matt there seems to be alot people that are feeling this way, I would believe that Dell will see a decline in it's customers in the coming year... if you don't give what you say you will or at least not try to satisfy your customer base the word will get out...
I have read alot of good reports on hp & my partner has been happy with them for over 10 years... they seem to understand business... heheeheee
Hey Chris... gads I am such a rambler... gads... LOL I did try to change once but my head just hurt from trying to keep it all within... LOL now if I could just learn to use the spell check... gaddddddddddds my hands just don't hit the right keys or my mind is just thinking way to fast & strange to keep up... LOL
but am glad it's an ok thing that can be put up with... :)
oh boy I better get back to work... LOL

I understand that Michael Dell has gotten out of the day to day running of the company he founded. That may have a lot to do with the lousey service reports that you have and the many others that I have heard of. Now the company appears to be run by business majors who look to today's bottom line and forget that there needs to be a bottom line tomorrow was well. I have also read reports that the morale of Dell workers is down the drain. When I lived in the area and new people who worked for Dell, the morale was way up there. That was in the days when, in the right job and not necessarily in management, it took about 5 years to accumulate a cool million in savings and they could afford to retire. No more, mores the pity.
