Cirque of the Towers Trip Report
Wolf's Head

Canon 30D, 24-105 f/4 IS L, PS coversion to B&W

I finally finished my Cirque of the Towers trip report. If you want the short version without all my verbose babblings, you can download the Google Earth file with photos. Turn on the tracks layer to see our route. I've also added a few more images to my gallery, including the one shown here.

The Cirque of the Towers is an incredible place. If you ever have the opportunity to go... GO!

I welcome any comments/critiques, and please let me know if you find any broken links or glaring grammatical errors in the trip report. Thanks for looking and enjoy! :wavey:

Hi Scott. I looked at all your photos from the trip report. WOW! What an amazing place, and what an experience that must have been. My favorite composition is the bottom panorama on day 3. You have better light in some photos, but I am a sucker for panoramas. Thanks very much for the report.

Looks like I got back just in time, great report on your travels, Scott. Even better were the "fruit" of all your labourous steps, from what you have in your gallery it appears that every stride was worth it. Truely a fantastic trip, we should all be so lucky as to find ourselves in such a place. Thanks for all you work! :toast:

Great idea, to put a Google Earth map with pics in your report. How do you do that? My favorite is the BW of Wolf's Head, very dramatic!

Don, for the Google Earth file with photos I use a program called RoboGeo. It is fairly simple to use. You sync the clock on your camera and GPS unit. Then you go out and take pics. Import the folder of pics into RoboGeo. Import your GPS tracklog into RoboGeo and it geotags the images with lat/long and altitude based on time. Then it has an option to output to Google Earth. Fun!

Edit: Obviously, this does not work with my LF camera. For those images, the lat/long and altitude can be manually entered...

Nice! I'm famous! hahaha... it was good to see a lot of your photos finally. I particular like this one here, and the deep lake pano on day 3. Also your star shot turned out good! Looks like you got a shooting star in there. Ah... memories! I would love to return there someday, preferrably when the wildflowers are going off. What an incredible cirque!

The images and the writeup are outstanding, Scott. Reading the day-by-day details was a lot of fun, even though I knew most of what was coming next. It was good to hear that you got tuckered too finally!

Epic trip with great company!
