After the strike.
SD10, Sigma 300-800mm @ 648mm.
F8, 1/1000s, ISO400.
This is a follow on from yesterdays shot.
It was feeding on tiny silver fish. They didn't show very well as they were so small but did get it running its tongue along its bill just like it was licking its lips.
Comments welcome.
Regards

Like the expression and tongue, not sure which I prefer of the series.

Really nice shot. Like the BG, quite busy but the Heron stands out really well and there's nothing distracting at all. Would prefer a bit more at the bottom..minor nit though.

A good environmental shot with some nice behaviour thrown in. I would like to see a shot
with the whole of the bird's reflection in view. Well done.

Hi Steve,

Nice shot. My only minor nit is the burnt out area just above the eye, but a very small nit in what is a great shot.

Regards Chris.

Hello Steve
To me the tongue makes this image. We see quite a few heron images, but I must admit that I haven't seen one with its tongue out before.
Best wishes
