Hey folks,
A few members have asked me about having a fall PNWNP photo shoot. I think it's a great idea. The middle to end of October is probably the best time for colors. Last year a few of us went into the GPNF and then to the Mt. St. Helens area. The colors north of Carson were absolutely amazing. Anyone have any other suggestions for a time and place?

The Gorge would offer a variety of elevations and ecosystems, and good color in the broadleaf trees at lower elevations.

There are photographs almost everywhere almost all the time. The better you understand what you are looking for the more you will find.
I would like to meet the people I have been coresponding with these last months.
The #60 road between Trout Lake and Carson through the Indian Heaven area will be good then.

Some where around Adams would be fun.

I don't know the best areas, but I'd enjoy another outing.

Mt. Adams sounds like fun. Lets do it! :jump:

We might think about camping up there, either the previous night for the sunrise or that evening for the sunset. Getting to any place on Adams takes a while and we might be in better position if we were up there already.
We could have a PNWNP meeting and drink a bunch of Chivas also.

Mt. Adams would be awesome - but is there really decent fall color there ??

I'd sure like to do the Silver Falls waterfall loop a couple of days if the peak is on, light rain, overcast.. would be perfect..

Ned - Silver Falls sounds better. Mt. Adams is pretty low on the scale for fall color. Personally I'm very much looking foward to the first snow at Paradise in the next few weeks.

I'm probably not up for camping (too cold at night in October for my knees) but wherever the event is I'll try to make it... If it's GPNF (my favorite playground) I'll probably stay at a B&B somewhere close by and meet up for sunrise. Trout Lake has several of them.

Natural Bridges (GPNF) is full of color in September/October. Mostly Vine Maple, but the place is covered with it.

I also think that Silver Falls is an excellent idea. I'd say the Moderator needs to make a decision and we'll Git-R-Done.

Hey folks,
It sounds like Mt. Adams and Silver Falls are the two most popular choices. Silver Falls would be close to its peak the third weekend in October. We would also have a better turnout for the silver falls loop. Does this sound good? October 21st, Silver Falls?

6 AM?

I have not been to Mt. Adams yet; we are new to the Pacific NW. Some have said that the color is not that great there. I find that hard to believe as I have found great color just about where ever I look during the fall. But, Silver Falls would be a great place to go.

I just received my new Arca Swiss 4x5 with new lenses, etc. Would love to try the new toys out there.

Later, why don't we set a date during the winter to go out and photograph the 'Emerald City' beauty. You remember the Emerald City from the Wizard of Oz? The beautiful green of the city? Well, that is how I view our part of the country, at least that part with out snow, during the winter. We should all grab our rain gear and go out and photograph.

We can make the Silver Falls outing the main event and have a second outing for the "hardcore" folks in the GPNF the week before. I'll do a feature on it all within the next week or so. Phil, as for the winter shoot in Seattle, it sounds like a good plan. Since it's still a ways off, why don't we bring it up in a couple of months.

I'm ready for either or both. Time I got to meet you guys. Interested in the camping part as I have an 81 VW camper, with an attachable tent (no floor) that will sleep 3 ok.
