Silver Forest Trail, Sunrise, Mt. Rainier
Here's my first attempt at one of my shots from the Silver Forest Trail. I'd appreciate any suggestions for making it a stronger image. You can see why it is called the Silver Forest.

Thanks!

My only slight critique would be the blown highlights near the right side horizon. Otherwise a very nice image.

Great shot JT.

Kathy and I were in this same area (thanks to your advice) but we were nervous about getting off of the trail (with all of the people in the imediate area) for the perfect shot that we were in hopes of finding. Clearly we did not walk far enough into the Silver Forest. Clearly a location for a return visit to Sunrise next year. You did a great job in locating the down tree trunks. The red painbrush adds a nice pop to the pic. Great job! :toast:

Only being critical, I'd like to se a little more contrast. Either way, I think this is pretty spectacular. The right side is a little bright but I really don't think it's a huge deal.

Thanks, everyone. I have a shot that is not blown out on the right. I'm going to work it in. Randy, I walked a ways past the official end of the trail (about 2 miles, I'm not sure how much farther it goes or what it connects to) before I turned around and headed back in for the sunset pics. I was set up right on the trail and it was a good thing because an off duty ranger (young guy about 20) was out for a stroll. We started talking just when the fireworks started. It was kind of awkward trying to get him to move on so I could take some pictures.

Erik, I didn't play with the contrast. I'll give it a try. I have a long way to go in the post processessing learning curve. The feedback is really valuable. Sometimes it feels like I'm all over the road.

Really a nice shot - I would work the contrast just a little more also but this is a great natural looking shot.

Well now this is VERY nice James!! And I also appreciate the new photo location. I've been spending so much time around Paradise Lodge that I forget about Sunrise....

My only nit would be to sharpen it up just a bit. It's soft to my 40 something eyes.... But hey it's the web and sharpness is always a challenge for sure.

This really is a nice blend of forground/background - well done James!!

A very good image. Perhaps a little more contrast would be nice, and the highlights brought in if possible in the upper right, but a very good comp and very stunning overall.
