What is everyones thoughts on when Mt. Evans Road will be closed?
The three month old information on the website states the following:
"Friday — May 26, 2006 — Mt Evans OPENED today and will remain open until September 5, 2006 weather permitting. On September 5, 2006 the top five miles will close. The bottom 10 miles, to Summit Lake, will remain open until October 1, 2006 weather permitting."
Is it usually the case it would closer sooner, but no later than the 5th or could it extend out?

I talked to a ranger the other week and he confirmed what you mentioned above. Even if there is no snow the road from Summit Lake to the top will be closed just after this holiday.

I agree Todd its BS!, it never used to close to the summit unitl a good snowfall. If there isn't snow why shouldn't it be open! Everybody should start complaining argue: to the ranger station in Idaho Springs.

Now that you have to pay, they make it tougher to get up there. I was hoping for a better answer than what I saw on the webpage.

Since this is the last weekend to head up there this year, I will probably make a trip up that way on Sunday the 3rd.
