I have a question to you guys. Does somebody know if the mt. Evans road is open ?
I am asking because I checked the website and it said that the road would be open. So I decided to go there today in the morning, I left my house around 3 am, when I took the exit mt evans, it said that the road would be open. When I arrived at the entrance the road was closed. I was so pissed of, cause I was driving 1.30 hours one way.
So maybe somebody of you guys live close to the entrance, I just came back and I saw that it was to late already to call the ranger station.
So thanks for your help

Ah, there's the USFS for ya! I imagine the inclement weather that spurred you to go there (I was wishing I was up there, too!) is the same weather that panicked them into closing the road. I don't know what the weather was like up there during those storms yesterday, but I noticed Pikes Peak had a healthy dusting of snow on the summit according to the summit cams. Might've been dicey on the road. Of course, that doesn't excuse not updating the Web site, or even changing the sign RIGHT NEXT TO the ranger station, but there's government inaction - er, I mean, in action - for you.
