Sunrise yesterday morning just outside of Santa Fe near the Rio Grande. The whole area is covered in fields of golden yellow wildflowers. Even in spring, we see nothing like what we are currently seeing! Just awesome!
The shot I wanted never quite developed due to storm clouds blocking the eastern horizon. I was hoping for an alpenglow on the canyon wall, with some nice deep red/purple colors in the stormy sky above the canyon wall. Instead, I had to wait about an hour after sunrise to capture light on the canyon wall. But the sky turned out pretty cool.

I really like this, Brian. The clouds cap it off. We're experiencing the same thing down here, there's more flowers in the foothills now than there were at any point in the spring.

Forgot to add, Indian summer is the official term for warm days that follow the first frost. Nitpicking at its finest!

Nice one Brian.Great composition and I agree with Todd that the clouds/sky really make it!

Hi Brian.
I would have preferred that the flowers did not block the canyon. Otherwise, this is very nice (the colors, contrast and that sky!).
I agree with you Momo, and that was my original idea, but I never got the light to support that composition. To add interest to somewhat stale light, I incorporated the flowers.

This is excellent, Brian. The clouds and layering are fantastic, and you've got a nice compliment of colors.

Thanks for posting.
Like Todd said, Indian Summer is usually a sunny period at the end of autumn.

I've flown over this area before and have wanted to see it and photograph it from the ground but haven't had the chance yet.
Yeah that was weird going from 10 degrees in April with snow, to 85 degrees and high fire danger in late May.
