Hey all, this is my first post since I am a new member here. Greetings to everyone here! I think a forum specifically for the pacific northwest is a great thing. I will try and post some photos up as soon as possible!!

This weekend I am going up to Mount Rainier for 3 days to try and capture some shots. what are some good locations to shoot up in mount rainier? I am looking for shots of the mountain as well as other pretty landscape, and am more than willing to hike as much as time permits. I am taking my Canon EOS 350 and an 18-55 mm lense. Thanks in advance for any help!

No shortage of great vantage points and overlooks at Rainier. It's one of the world's larger mountains bottom to top so it really stands out. This, however isn't the best time of year to visit. It's actually the worst in my opinion. Give it another month or more and there sould be a little colorful foliage around and a fresh dusting of snow on the peak. My favorite locations would be Pinnacle peak trail in the Tatoosh Range, the trails to the East of Paradise, Sunrise park on the East side and Spray park on the West side near Mowich lake. There are also plenty of other locations accessable by backpacking.

Vinu,

I would echo Marc's comments about timing. I was camping up there this last weekend and the mountain is often surrounded by smoke and haze from the wildfires burning on and around it and the wildflowers are mostly burnt by the heat. Pinnacle Peak and Bench, Sno lake are good area's from PAradise as is the area east of Sunrise and for a common view the Naches Peak loop off Chinook is good as well.

Good luck

Mike
